What are clear aligners?

An alternative to conventional braces and orthodontics is clear aligners. They are positioned over the teeth to gently and consistently move teeth into their correct positions.

 

What is the process of getting clear aligners?

Your teeth will be scanned and photographed with a 3-dimensional digital intraoral scanner. The pictures will provide information to be used to create a treatment plan and an aligner specifically made for your teeth. You will then schedule a follow-up appointment to receive aligners and start treatment.

 

How long does the treatment take?

The length of the treatment depends on each individual and their oral issues. Each aligner should be changed after every 14 days, and you must visit the dentist about every 2 weeks. The aligners should be worn 22 to 24 hours each day. Based on the complexity of the treatment, it can last from 4 months  to 24+ months.

 

Benefits of Clear Aligners?

At our Worcester family dental office, we use Dandy dental lab to design and fabricate clear aligners. Dandy clear aligners that do not extend to the gums will not cause discomfort.

The aligner can be used to treat crowded, crossbites/underbites, open bites, and gaps.

Other than braces, the aligners are removed to enable better cleaning and less risk of plaque.
